What Is a Scissor Lift?
A scissor lift uses a crisscross (scissor) hydraulic mechanism to raise a large, flat platform vertically. The platform stays directly above the base — no horizontal reach. Heights of 3–14m are common. Large deck = room for tools, materials and multiple workers.
Best for: Warehouse work, ceiling maintenance, painting, electrical installation — any job requiring a wide working platform at a fixed location.
What Is a Self-Propelled Aerial Work Platform (Boom Lift)?
A boom lift uses a hydraulic articulated or telescopic arm to position a small cage. The cage can reach horizontally as well as vertically — giving access to positions a scissor lift can never reach: over obstacles, around corners, at a distance from the base.
Best for: Building maintenance, telecommunications, tree surgery, working over obstacles or at angles.
