How Telescopic Locking Systems Work
Each rung section locks via a button-style or rotary locking mechanism. Button locks are simpler and more common. Rotary locks (like Xtend+Climb) require twisting each section — more steps but some argue more secure. Both are safe if properly maintained and to EN131 standard.
Load Rating: EN 131 Professional vs Domestic
- EN 131 Part 1 (Domestic / DIY): Rated to 150kg. Suitable for occasional home use.
- EN 131 Part 2 (Professional): Rated to 150kg but with additional structural and durability testing. Required if the ladder is used by an employee or contractor.
